THANK YOU!!!!!
Well, the race is over and our fundraising has just about wrapped up (though there's always time for last minute donations). I am pleased to announce that we raised an amazing $1790, $790 higher than our goal of $1000!
So a HUGE public thanks to my bloggie buddies Lana, Mike and Jen C for their generous donations. Knowing I was accountable to the Refuge and my sponsors as well as myself and my blog definitely helped me to snap out of it during my "marathon" moment.
Of course, I have to thank everyone else as well- my fellow newbies who make me feel like I might know something, the others in the "shooting for sub-4" club who know what it's like, the kiwis who get what I'm talking about (and share my time zone), the experienced marathoners who always make me feel confident in my abilities and my preparation. You guys have been awesome, and I can't wait to share the next challenge with you!

When I ran in the UK (I had never heard of triathlons till I came to NZ) I read books and articles and it would talk about the benefits of a support network and that it was one of the key things to reaching your potential etc and I would think "nah I can go it alone. I don't need the support of others".
And then I found Blogs .... being part of this 'blogland support system' is awesome and it takes the adventure of running and triathlons to another level.
Following your progress has been fantastic and seeing you go sub4 is a real inspiration to me to do the same.
Well done for raising so much money as well. It doesn't seem to be the norm over here like it was in the UK. You pretty much couldn't enter a race unless you got sponsors.
By the way, was Auckland an easier course than Rotorua - where should I go for my PB next year??? :)
Congratulations again on toughing out the race and going Sub4 and raising so much money.
Mike
congrats!:)
